On The Pitch

Students of the education programme will train and compete in Regional and National tournaments, playing Futsal and 11-a-side football representing Fleetwood Town parallel to their studies. Training is held on the FIFA standard AstroTurf pitches at Poolfoot Farm and the State of the Art gym, with students training upwards of 1.5 hours a day and competing in the fixtures every Wednesday.

We will take on local colleges and fellow EFL Trust sides such as Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers in the North West Development League and the EFL Futsal Trust Futsal leagues, competing at places like Manchester, York, Derby and Birmingham against such teams as Chelsea, Southampton, Stoke, Newcastle, and Huddersfield.

This has allowed our scholars the opportunity to play 11-a-side and Futsal at a higher level, during and after their college studies.

Work & progression routes

The Level Three in Sport with Fleetwood Town provides students with the opportunities to enter employment or higher education within the sport and leisure industry/field of study. Past students have either successfully applied to go to university to study Sports Coaching and Sports Therapy, We have had graduates go straight into employment within Fleetwood Town and we have current students already working and getting payment for Fleetwood Town Community Trust and Poolfoot Farm.

The carefully selected modules within this course will allow students to sample a variety of fields within the sports industry with potential career pathways including but not limited to: sports development, sports science, sports medicine, sports coaching, sports nutrition, sports therapy, personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, sports journalism and law in sport.

In addition to this, our students will have the opportunity to gain ‘hands-on’ experience throughout the duration of the course. Current students have taken advantage of these opportunities to work alongside our coaches, sports therapists and the media department to name a few in a professional football club environment.

We feel the work experience on offer at Fleetwood Town provides our students with unique career development opportunities within the sport and leisure industry that cannot be experienced in other college courses.
