Premier League Primary Stars

Fleetwood Town Community Trust works closely with primary schools within the Wyre borough to support healthy and active lifestyles, as well as delivering key messages to create positive futures.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. Learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and anti-bullying.

Using the framework of the national curriculum and the vision and values of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, we aim to develop the skills and ambitions of teachers, girls and boys aged 5 to 11 years old, both actively and in the classroom through physical education, english, maths and PSHE.

Continuous professional development

As part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, we aim to extend its education to primary school teachers as well as pupils through the delivery of the PE curriculum focusing on holistic child development. We will focus on mentoring and supporting primary school teachers so they develop confidence, knowledge and skills to be able to deliver high quality PE and school sport in their school, ensuring the children are given the best support possible for their future.

Extra-curricular delivery

Within both our Premier League Primary Stars programme and the Wyre & Fylde School Sport Partnership programme, we provide extra-curricular clubs which include breakfast, lunchtime or after-school clubs. This aims to engage and improve the enjoyment of pupils taking part in physical activity and sport, increasing motivation and confidence to continue their participation in sport either during our clubs or entering a sporting pathway.

Competitions

Throughout the academic year, as a Community Trust we host and support various sporting competitions for young people to enjoy and take part in delivered by ourselves and Wyre & Fylde SSP.

These include the EFL Kids Cup competition where schools have the opportunity to compete for the chance to represent Fleetwood Town at the North Regional Finals and potentially Wembley.

We also deliver Premier League Primary Stars competitions focusing on a variety of sports aiming to engage and support the development of individuals through giving them opportunities to take part in competition outside of school.

Maths and English intervention

As part of our Premier League Primary Stars programme, we have developed an english and maths Intervention programme for pupils in Year 5 and 6. Using the power of football, we aim to engagement pupils and increase their attainment in these areas, as well as engaging them academically through the use of sport and in particular football.
