Show Racism the Red Card

SRTRC 3Show Racism the Red Card is an anti-racism charity that uses professional footballers to educate young people about the dangers of racism in football and in society. During this season they will be visiting other clubs around England, such as, Manchester City, Bolton and Blackpool.

The players were joined by over 100 pupils in year 5 and 6, from Fleetwood schools, Flakefleet, Shakespeare and Chaucer. Their afternoon with us involved taking part in a range of anti-racism activities, watching a screening of the SRtRC film and then pupils were asked to pose questions to the panel of players.

Mr Gerrish, Headteacher at Chaucer Primary School said: “We believe education is vital in tackling inter-generational racism and the event will had a positive impact on the young people attending. Hosting this kind of event demonstrates the club’s commitment to tackling racism in football and society brilliantly.”

Nathan Pond said; “For kids at such a young age it’s vital for them to understand what racism is so they deal with it and can report it if anything happens. Supporting Show Racism the Red Card is important because in today’s society, prejudice of any kind is no longer acceptable.”
